While attending UW-Platteville and just beginning my 3rd year of school I had my injury. I went on a canoe trip with my closest friends and dove into the river severing my spinal cord at C-5/6 in my vertebrae. My spinal cord injury left me paralyzed from the chest down with no triceps or finger function. I missed one year of college and eventually graduated with an Associate Degree in Business Management from Waukesha County Technical College. I currently work full-time for IRIS, a state program that helps adults with disabilities become more independent.

Before my injury, I was a three sport athlete in high school playing baseball, football, and basketball. I was fortunate enough to go to college and play baseball. Wheelchair rugby has allowed me to meet others who have similar disabilities who share a common interest in wanting to stay active and competitive post injury.
