I was born with Cerebral Palsy. I started playing wheelchair basketball at age 8. I have been involved with wheelchair basketball and wheelchair racing for 14 years. I’ve had good success, competing in world junior championships in both sports and winning 4 bronze medals in track in 2006. I started playing wheelchair rugby 4 years ago and was selected to Team Canada 2 years ago. At the most recent Canadian National Championship I was the 3.0 All-Star and also MVP for Div.2. I’ve participated in many international tournaments as a member of Team Canada.
I play wheelchair Rugby because I like the contact and the comradery I have with the other players I have met. Having played other wheelchair sports and having tried several more I can honestly say that the first time I got in a rugby chair at my first practice I was hooked! I’ve never been known as a girly girl and this sport is perfect for me. I’m really looking forward to this new challenge of playing in the USQRA.
